Karen Elson - Stolen Roses

"I read Half The Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide earlier this year and it's been a while since a book brought such a gut wrenching reaction. I was at once  outraged and wholly moved by the book's honest and  accurate account of the treatment of women and girls all over the  world.

I wrote Stolen Roses for my last record  (The Ghost Who Walks.) The song was written about a difficult time in my life when I  was younger and drawing from my own experience of dealing with adversity as a woman."
